iPhone 15 with new charging standard and we are talking about the Qi2 wireless charging standard. Developed by the Wireless Power Consortium, which includes, among others, Apple, Google, Huawei, Samsung, Sony, and over 300 other companies from many industries. Compliant with the new standard, inductive chargers will be able to charge a compatible smartphone, smartwatch, or other gadget of any brand.

The new standard is the next generation of the Qi standard, which appeared on the market in 2008.

Accessories compatible with Qi2 will use a solution known from MagSafe accessories sold by Apple for two years, i.e. magnets that facilitate the correct positioning of the device on the charger. This ensures that the coil in the device being charged is able to receive energy because it is in the right position relative to the coil of the charger that generates the electromagnetic field.

In the press release issued by WPC, you can read that iPhone 15 comes with a new charging standard, the construction using magnets improves energy efficiency and significantly speeds up the wireless charging process.

Apple’s MagSafe accessories are capable of charging with a maximum power of 15 watts, which is not much.
