Of course, there’s still a long way to go before bionic devices are implanted in our hands, but Samsung is already miniaturizing its devices and incorporating its entire ecosystem into them. Samsung Ring will monitor our sleep and vital functions, but the company is going further and wants to connect the device to all Samsung ecosystems, such as refrigerators and Samsung Food and Samsung e-Food Centre systems. If there’s enough time until the launch, I’m sure the ring itself, through its level of sophistication, will be connected to a whole range of other Samsung ecosystems. What if such a ring were a half-millimeter insert located under our skin on the wrist?

Samsung’s smart ring was initially announced some time ago, but at the MWC 2024 show in Barcelona, which is currently taking place, the Korean company shared the first specifics about it. The Galaxy Ring is expected to be equipped with the latest generation of sensors that will allow monitoring the user’s body in real time.

Samsung is primarily highlighting the ability to record sleep quality. This includes monitoring pulse rate, the length of the transition from awake to asleep, and body movements made during sleep. The ring is also expected to assess the user’s health to determine his physical and mental readiness for achieve health goals by setting challenges, and will offer to monitor the user’s fertility based on the relevant tasks. It will also help the body’s natural cycles.

Samsung boasts that the device will feature a long battery life without charging. Unfortunately, details of how much it is supposed to be exactly were missing. It can be assumed that we are talking about a time longer than a few days, but the specific value will depend on the selected mode of operation. If more parameters are monitored, the working time of the ring will be shorter. The device is expected to feature full compatibility with the Galaxy Watch, but integration with smartphones can also be expected.

When will the Samsung Galaxy Ring go on sale? As of yet, there is no specific date given, but there are many indications that its release will take place in the second half of 2024. Of course, the Galaxy Ring will work best with devices from Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, but it is expected to be compatible with Android phones. This means that its features will not be available to owners of Apple smartphones.

As for the device’s prices, they are unknown at this point.  The market for wearable gadgets (so-called wearables) has grown significantly in recent years. Customers most often turn to smartwatches and smart bands. However, increasing miniaturization is paving the way for the production of more unusual equipment.
