Lately ONEPLUS present a phone with a rotating Lens. Very known website LetsGoDigital prepare some prerenders how smartphone may look. There would be only one camera, and its additional advantage would be a stabilization system with a wide range of optics tilt, ie “gimbal”. However, the LetsGoDigital website publishing information about the new device does not have further details about the described solution. It is not known if and when this solution could hit the market – but OnePlus would have to show a lot of courage to release a flagship smartphone with only one camera.

The presented patent shows the rotation of the lens along two axes which may allow one of the best image stabilization. The use of this solution will result in the manufacturer resigning from wide-angle or telephoto lenses. Additionally, a device with such a number of sensitive components may be susceptible to mechanical damage.
