A market analyst specializing in Apple devices – claims that Apple will use a modified Qualcomm X60 chip in the iPhone 13, enabling connection not only via cellular networks, but also via satellites operating in low orbit.

Qualcomm X60 MODEM

Currently, satellite phones are more of an equipment for professionals or tourists. The introduction of satellite communications by Apple would certainly popularize this communication system. If the analyst’s predictions come true, Apple will be the first “mainstream” manufacturer to offer satellite phones and possibly bring satellite telephony to life. If the solution works – other smartphone manufacturers will certainly follow Apple’s footsteps.

It’s not presently clear what Apple will have done to the X60 to support the satellite communications. Also unclear is what Apple will need to implement for an antenna array that is required for the technology — and differs from LTE or 5G antennae. Maybe Apple needs some other external equipment to catch and relay the satellite signal.

Satellite connections can be Future Technology!

If the solution turns out to be popular and modern technology, it is possible that Qualcomm will use this technology in the futuristic Qualcomm X65 signal modem.
